3 Delish Winter Cocktails to Try at Home

Winters are a call for drinks that make you feel warm from the inside. Cocktail connoisseurs insist that there is a cocktail for every occasion, and they count in nature’s cycle of events, such as when the Earth tilts away from the sun and when the cold winter wind blows. Here are three perfect cocktails that you need to put your foot up at the fireplace.

1. Hot Toddy
A classic whiskey-based hot cocktail that can be made at the comfort of your home – this cocktail can be prepared with any kind of whiskeys such as bourbon or rye whiskey or scotch or Irish whiskey. Here we see we have included the bourbon. However, it can be replaced with the whiskey or your choice.

Ingredients

  • Boiling water
  • Cloves – Four for garnish
  • Lemon wheel – One for garnish
  • Demerara sugar or brown sugar – Two teaspoons
  • Fresh lemon juice – 1/4 ounce
  • Bourbon – Two ounces

Fill a glass mug with boiling hot water and let it stand for a minute. Meanwhile, prepare the garnish. Stick four cloves into the lemon wheel. Now empty the mug and fill fresh boiling water again until the mug is half full. Add the sugar and stir to dissolve. Let the garnish float and stir. Add the lemon juice slowly and bourbon and stir again. Serve the drink while it is hot.

2. Tipsy Hot Chocolate
A perfect winter night’s aphrodisiac is the rich tipsy hot chocolate cocktail. It can be prepared with any alcohol. However, we have used Irish whiskey.

Ingredients

  • Sweet chocolate – Two ounces (finely chopped)
  • Hot milk – Six ounces
  • Irish whiskey – Two ounces
  • Mini Marshmallows – Six for garnish

Pour the finely chopped chocolate pieces into an Irish coffee mug. Pour the hot milk gently into the mug and let it stand for a minute, then stir until the mixture gets smooth. Then pour the whiskey and stir to combine. Finally, garnish the hot chocolate with mini marshmallows and serve while hot.

3. Hot Buttered Rum
A comforting cocktail on a cold winter evening is what defines the hot buttered rum. To really feel the comfort, one has to indulge in this blissful cocktail.

Ingredients

  • Gold rum – 1/2 ounce
  • Boiling hot water – One glass
  • Hot rum batter – One tablespoon
  • Freshly grated nutmeg – 1/2 teaspoon for garnish
  • Cinnamon stick – One for garnish

For the hot rum batter

  • Butter – 1/2 pound
  • Brown sugar – 1/2 pound
  • Sugar – 1/2 pound
  • Ground cinnamon – 1/2 tablespoon
  • Ground clove – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground nutmeg – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vanilla ice cream – 1/2 quart

First, prepare the rum batter by adding butter, brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg (that is, everything except the ice cream) in a bowl and stir until they combine into a batter. Then add smoothened vanilla ice cream and stir again. Transfer the contents into a container and store them in a freezer.

To prepare the cocktail, add the gold rum in a glass mug and pour one tablespoon of the batter into it. Fill the glass mug with boiling water and gently stir until the cocktail turns consistently smooth. Garnish the cocktail with freshly grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!
